Put Your Hands Together....

Last night I had the opportunity to redeem myself.

When I was 16 or 17, I had the opportunity to introduce Brian Free (a southern gospel artist) on stage at Paramount's Carowinds for one of the biggest Southern Gospel Concerts of the year. I had done my research. Prepare a whole list of things to say. I was standing just off stage waiting for Gary McSpadden to introduce me, when he starting saying EVERYTHING on my paper. It was if he had read my stuff before I got there. Anyway - long story short, I choked. It was the worst introduction ever!

So, why did I write this?

Last night, Gold City was in town and the station I used to work full time for, but now work part time, was sponsoring the concert and the station owner, Carl Ford, was supposed to Emcee.

He came down with the Flu on Wednesday and I've been working up at the station since then filling in for him.

So I got the call on Thursday to be ready to fill in as emcee on Friday night if he didn't get better. I thought it would be cool - but I still had that Brian Free intro in the back of my mind.

Of course, since the time I introduced (or didn't) Brian Free I have done alot of public speaking, so I'm not as nervous in front of people.

Is this getting long?

I got to the concert, introduced myself to Daniel Riley (Gold City). I was definately not feeling nervous. I jumped up on stage and felt as calm as could be. I think everything went well. It was tons of fun and I can't wait until I get the opportunity to do it again. I'm not wishing illness on Carl Ford, of course!
